DCL     Our Fifth Visit to Walt Disney World     DCL
October 3-7, 2013

After following up our visit in Nov. '11 with the Disney Dream Cruise in July '13, we weren't planning another trip.  Then August rolled around and the BOGP crew was starting to talk about Epic October and I started to get the itch, especially since we hadn't visited the parks after the cruise.  We had previously discussed how we wanted to see the Halloween party since we liked the Christmas party so much and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to do just that.  Of course, since it is us and we are such Disney nuts, we couldn't just do 1 party - we had to plan on 2!  But what's better than 2?  That's right, 3 parties!  We would also attend the Disney Villains Hollywood Bash, the after-party for the Tower of Terror 10-Miler race.  We rationalized it by saying we would not purchase regular park tickets since the party tickets were about $25 cheaper than a single-day ticket.  That changed when we figured out we could meet with the BOGP crew at Epcot and we ended up adding a one-day non-MK ticket.  Right after we booked, at my nephew's birthday party we started talking my other sister Margaret into coming with us.  She eventually decided she could, so we added her and the plans were set.

Day 1 - Thursday October 3, 2013
Wanting to minimize the number of days we took Alex out of school, we flew out on Thursday evening.  This was very different for us as we usually fly out first thing in the morning.  We left for Midway Airport right after Alex got home from school to make sure we didn't get stuck in traffic.  We arrived with enough time to eat dinner, then our flight was delayed due to a storm system going through Chicago.  We finally arrived in Orlando at 10:30pm and found the airport mostly deserted.  That was strange.  By the time we got to our room at the Contemporary it was after midnight.

Margaret and I both got the wifi on the plane. She was browsing the web, I took this to email to my parents who were following our flight tracking online.

Now I know why Southwest puts their name on the insides of the winglets - for those of us taking pictures to send home!

Day 2 - Friday October 4, 2013
Our first morning started early.  The plan was to spend the morning and lunchtime at Epcot, then return to the Contemporary to change into our costumes for our first Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.  As they always do for us, plans changed on the fly.  We stayed in Epcot longer and decided to save our costumes for the second party to save us the time of showering/changing.  We made it to the Magic Kingdom a little before 6:00pm.  We were so busy hitting attractions during this party (and a stop for dinner at Pecos Bill's) that we ended up skipping the parade and fireworks.  It was nice to know we had another party in two days.

Day 3 - Saturday October 5, 2013
Saturday started even earlier for me as I had a fishing excursion booked for 7am.  While I was fishing the girls went shopping at the monorail resorts.  They ended up meeting me for lunch back at the Contemporary, then went back to it while I napped afterwards.  In the evening we took the boat to the Fort Wilderness resort for dinner at the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue.  We arrived back at the Contemporary, changed our clothes, and headed over to Disney's Hollywood Studios for the party.  It was a very warm and humid night but a lot of fun.

Day 4 - Sunday October 6, 2013
On Sunday we were able to sleep in.  Michelle got Alex up and they went to the pool.  I met them a little later and we ate lunch there.  Margaret joined us around 1pm, got her lunch to go, and we rented a pontoon boat to tour Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon.  It was a great day for a boat ride.  Afterwards we went back to the room to shower and change into our costumes for the party.  This time we got there earlier since we had Fastpass reservations for Enchanted Tales With Belle before a dinner reservation at Tony's Town Square.  This night we took time to watch the Hallowishes fireworks and the second parade.  We loved the Halloween party!

Day 5 - Monday October 7, 2013
Our flight home wasn't until 5:35pm, so we were able to sleep in our last morning.  It was much needed after having been up late every night of our stay.  We spent the morning packing (mostly me) and taking turns in the shower.  We missed breakfast in the restaurants, so we ate lunch instead.  While we were eating it started to rain heavily, so the girls decided not to go out shopping one last time.  We killed a couple hours shopping and sightseeing inside the Contemporary before catching the bus to the airport.
