Disney Dream July 11-15, 2016
Disney's Port orleans Riverside Resort July 15-19, 2016
Shortly after our 2015 cruise ended, Michelle's mom expressed a desire to take her whole family on a Disney Cruise. She chose a 4-night itinerary on the Disney Dream since that would fit into a one week timeframe. As is typical, we decided to extend our trip with a WDW resort stay. But since we Michelle & I had already been to Walt Disney World this year, we chose to not visit any parks this time. We originally chose to stay at Port Orleans French Quarter, but just two weeks before our trip Disney announced the food court there would be closed for refurbishment. Since we planned to spend a fair amount of time at the resort, including a couple meals, we moved our reservation over to Port Orleans Riverside. That way we could still use the boat transportation to Disney Springs since we knew we would be going there several times.

Day 1 - Sunday July 10, 2016
Day 1 started WAY too early! With a 5:30am departure flight, the limos picked us up at 2:45am. That meant nobody got much sleep that night! It was a very smooth flight to Orlando. We then got our rental minivans and made the drive over to Port Canaveral. We shopped at Ron Jon's Surf Shop, at a quick lunch, then checked into the Radisson At The Port. For dinner we ate at Fishlips so that we could watch the cruise ships depart, but only one left after our dinner. Back at the Radisson, the kids swam and we relaxed.

Day 2 - Monday July 11, 2016
After nearly a year wait, it's finally time to go cruising. We ended up with an early boarding group, which was awesome. We ate lunch, toured the kid's clubs, endured our muster drill, then had fun at the Sail Away party.

Day 3 - Tuesday July 12, 2016
Our first port of call was Nassau, Bahamas. I stayed on board while everyone else went shopping. It was quite hot this day. I explored the ship and settled in the new adult-only area of Satellite Falls. After the saw the show, I took Cali & Paige and we did one of the Midship Detective Agency adventures.

Day 4 - Wednesday July 13, 2016
Our second port of call was Disney's Castaway Cay. This is the day we looked forward to most. Michelle, Alex and I left the ship around 9am, Dee and the rest were going for breakfast first. We spent the morning swimming because it was so hot. Dee and Paige joined us at the beach about 10:30am. Jamie, Haley, and Cali were snorkeling. I was going to join them, but it was so hot I didn't want to walk all the way over there. At lunchtime I left to go back to the ship and the comfort of air conditioning!

Day 5 - Thursday July 14, 2016
The last day of our cruise was our day at sea. We spent most of it just relaxing. Michelle and I went to Satellite Falls while the rest of the group went to the main pool. Eventually Dee and Jamie joined us, but there wasn't anywhere near for them to sit. After dinner we packed and put our suitcases out to be picked up, then Cali, Paige and I did the Muppet's version of the Midship Detective Agency.

Day 6 - Friday July 15, 2016
We left the ship by 8:00am, ate breakfast at McDonald's in Port Canaveral, then drove over to Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Resort. Dee, Jamie and the girls headed to the airport to fly home. We relaxed at the resort before heading to Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club Resort for dinner. After dinner we planned to spend the evening exploring the Boardwalk, but storms and rain dashed those plans again. (We had the same experience in 2013 too!) We made our way back over to Beach Club for ice cream at Beaches 'n Cream before calling it a night.

Day 7 - Saturday July 16, 2016
Day 7 was spent at Disney Springs. This was our first time seeing the recently opened Town Center. We spent time shopping and then had lunch at Splitsville. This was Alex's first time seeing Splitsville. After lunch, she and Michelle bowled three games. After some more shopping, I made my way back to Riverside while they stayed to do more shopping without me.

Day 8 - Sunday July 17, 2016
Sunday started early for Alex and I. I had booked a 7-9am fishing excursion and had invited our friend Jimmie from Texas who we had met on our BOGP cruise in 2013. Jimmie and his wife were also staying at Riverside with two of their grandkids. So Jimmie and the two kids joined us for fishing. Afterwards I ate breakfast and took a midday nap while the girls went exploring. This evening we drove to the Polynesian Village Resort for dinner at Ohana. After that we went to Trader Sam's Grog Grotto so Alex could experience the fun. When we finished there we took the monorail to the Grand Floridian and then Contemporary resorts to shop and explore. We wrapped up the night at the Polynesian beach having Dole Whips and watching Wishes.

Day 9 - Monday July 18, 2016
The only definite thing we had planned for our last full day was dinner at The Boathouse. We had debated going to a water park, but with the daily rain we decided to just go to Disney Springs again instead. This time we took an Amphicar ride at the Boathouse, had a light lunch at Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar, and did more shopping. We tried to get back before the storms shut down the boat transportation, but didn't make it. We had to take a taxi back to Riverside. Dinner at the Boathouse was delicious, but expensive!

We got lucky that the red one was lined up and we were the first to go out that day. We all agreed the red one was the best looking.

Day 10 - Tuesday July 19, 2016
Today was our departure day. Since we had such a late flight, I extended our reservation so that we could stay in our room until it was time to leave. I ate breakfast at the Riverside food court and then spent the day packing and relaxing in the room. The girls went shopping one last time at Disney Springs. We left the resort around 4:30pm. The rental car return and TSA both went very quickly, so we had almost 3 hours at the airport before our flight. We ate dinner and then just sat in the gate area until it was time to board our flight. It was a bumpy flight home (no snacks or drinks) but we made it ok and arrived home about midnight. I didn't realize until later that we didn't take any pictures this day!
